Sorry I’ve been behind, and there’s so little in the shop right now. I’ve been running 12 hour days minimum in lab, including weekends.

Going to try to get some more dyeing done in the evenings, and I am making slow progress on some spinning, but I have to get my little brother’s hat done soon or I’m screwed. I can give Dad a single sock if I have to, ’cause he’s around. But I don’t want to have to give Matt a hat IOU and then mail it.

That said, I have gotten a little done.

Finally finished the last of the wait list for Sweeney Todd

Dyed this, which needs a name. Right now in the running is “Gold Rush” but I’m not sure. Also suggested was “Grits.”

Been playing with some hand carding. Not sure if it will pan out, but it’s an interesting thing to play with. It’s not very practical for packing, if nothing else.
Batts

And yes, I have been spinning a little. This is a thread of noiled silk that will become (hopefully laceweight, maybe light fingering) Cernunnos, a mythic yarn, after several several trips to the dye pot.

And that’s about all that’s new right now. Working on a fiber reactive dye post, but not there yet. Going to be dyeing up some of that lovely cashmere/merino/nylon (which is what that batt is made of above).

For now, back to my ridiculously uncooperative yeast, and my exhaustion. Whee! I really need to shave.

  1. Hey! One of those Sweeneys is coming to live in my neighborhood! My friend Kelly – she came, she saw, she ordered. Can’t wait to see it in person.

Loving the nameless one. Might have to have it. It says something to me but I’m not entirely sure what – something to do with a line squall at sunset, I think. Hmmmmm.

The nameless one reminds me of some lapis I saw recently, not super quality, but very pretty (the white is calcite, the gold is pyrite). Also sunlight glinting on waves. You do look tired – I hope the yeast takes pity on you.
